Day 5 - Pennant Parade and stamp club

My hostess for stamp club this month asked if we could something using one of the box dies for the bigshot. I had just recently received the Bitty box die so decided to try something with that. As I was looking through the new catalog, I came across this cute project on page 67. It shows using a different stamp set, but that's what's nice about the catalog, you can copy or just use it as a starting point for our own ideas.

So along with using this die for the first time, I also taught them to use the Circle Scissors Plus. To make the hole for the cupcake paper to fit in, all of the available circle punches were either too small or too large so I had to cut the hole with Circle Scissors Plus. They did great!

Well I think that is enough for that stamp set so when I find time to stamp again, it's on to another one which is a winter/Christmas stamp set. I hope you've enjoyed and were inspired by what you've seen so far.

Motorcycle sneak peek

Here is a single stamp coming in the Summer mini that my husband told me I needed to get. Him and my son love dirt bikes and motorcycles. This makes great Father's day or masculine birthday cards. This card is paired up with the Extreme Elements stamp set from the Idea Book & Catalog:

I think next time I make this card I will heat emboss the bike in black to make it pop more. But I'm happy with the way this turned out anyway.

Tom Turkey Top Note Box

I saw this on another blog and just had to try it. I did change mine somewhat and used all Stampin'Up! punches. Isn't he cute!!!

The back piece is made by using the Circle Scissors Plus.

All the feathers are using the large and small oval punches.

The red thingy (I don't know what thats called) hanging from the beak is made from a large oval punch, I just cut to shape.

The beak is made from the large oval punch. The cardstock was folded in half and it was punch kind of at an angle to get the beak shape.

The eyes are cut from the 1" and the 3/4" circle punches.

And Many Mower Birthday

I looked at the calendar yesterday and remembered it is my BIL's birthday next Monday. Well I didn't have a lot of time to design a card and put it together last night, but did remember that I had found some card stock already cut from a previous card I had designed for a swap a while ago and decided to use it. Why not right!?

Well the swap card from before was this:


Well going with the And Many Mower set because of the golfer in it, which my BIL loves to do when he comes to Michigan, I changed it ever so slightly to come up with this:


I took off the grass part in the center and added the banner with the sentiment and also added to the inside of the card:


It's hard to see, but I ran the white card stock through the bigshot using the small dotted texturz plate to make the dapples on the golf ball. I did stamp the saying first. The tee is made from just a piece of black card stock cut at an angle for the bottom and the top was punched with the small oval punch.

I know he'll love this card and I hope you do too!

Pop-up Flower Pot?

Today at Jackie Bolhuis' Spring Seminar I had to do a demonstration on using Sizzix dies for out-of-the-box projects. So I started thinking what I could do with the new pop-up cake die. I have seen some ideas out there, but wanted to come up with something myself. So I thought what if I turn the cake over? So I did and it looked like a flower pot. I added some stems and flowers also cut from dies and a piece of ribbon, adhered it to a 'plate' and viola' a cute center piece!



The only thing you can't do with it like this is fold it up. When it is used the way it is intended, it folds up into the one below it. Well with the larger piece on the top, that can't happen. But who cares, it's just too darn cute to fold up.

Circle Scissors Plus Gift Bag

Here is a bag I made using the new Circle Scissors Plus. I cut two pieces of Bella Rose DSP using the 6" setting. I also cut two pieces of Riding Hood Red card stock using the 6" setting to use as backing on the DSP. I used a little craft bag I got at the craft store for the inside which I cut down.

I cut off the bottom of the circles to match the bottom of the bag. I punched a handle using the Designer Label punch.

The front is decorated with pieces cut from the Stampin'Up! exclusive die called Little Leaves and a flower from the Flower Layers w/Leaf die which is mounted on to a scallop circle punched piece. In the middle of the flower is a brad from the Filigree set and also a Jumbo silver 5 1/6" brad.

Tie the bag shut with a piece of striped Riding Hood Red ribbon and Viola', you have a really cute gift bag.
