Dry Embossed Morning Soft

I keep seeing a lot of cards with vellum on them again, so I decided to try something myself. I saw this at StampinUp! convention a couple of years ago and really liked how it turns out.

What you do is stamp your image onto vellum cardstock, flip the vellum over and use a stylus and go over the lines of the image to dry emboss it. I layed my piece of vellum on a computer mouse pad. You can't press real hard, just hard enough to make an impression.

I then colored the back with StampinUp! markers. I think this technique is called 'stained glass'.

I decided to use the color challenge from Splitcoast stampers which is Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink and Chocolate chip. I did add accents of Old Olive and Regal Rose to the flowers and leaves.

I cut a piece of chocolate chip card stock the same size as the vellum and punched the corners of the chocolate chip with the ticket corner punch. I then cut a piece of Pretty in Pink card stock a little bit bigger than the vellum and chocolate chip. I adhered the chocolate chip piece to the center of the pretty in pink and then mounted the vellum onto the pink piece using vintage brads in each corner so I wouldn't have to use tape underneath the vellum, which shows through.

The scalloped piece of chocolate chip card stock was made using the slit punch. I adhered this to the Certainly Celery card front. I wrapped a piece of wide chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon around the top of the scalloped piece. I drew lines and dots on the scallops using the white gel pen.

The main image is adhered using dimensionals. I then dry embossed the dots using the crop-a-dile along the side of the main image and in between the scallops.

This was a fun card to make, but it does take time to do the dry embossing on the vellum. Take your time if you decide to try this technique.

Hope you like what you see. Comments are always welcome!

Thanks for stopping by!
