Recipe Box

I saw this on this blog here, and just had to try it. I did change some things to make it all StampinUp products though. She used index cards that you would purchase at the store, I am making my own using Whisper White card stock and the Dotted Lines jumbo wheel (which is on order yet) to make the recipe cards. I thought this would make a great stamp camp project.

On this box I used the East Coast Prep DSP. Tempting Turquoise was used for the main box which matches the DSP. Each recipe card is 4 x 6" with a piece of coordinating DSP adhered to the top of each one. A tab was punched from the same DSP using the Round Tab punch for each recipe card also, and these were stapled on. Each card is rounded on the top corners using the corner rounder punch. This box is holding 12 cards so far, but more could easily fit in it.

On the front of the box I used a Scalloped punched piece in Real Red and layered it with a piece of Whisper White stamped with a stamp from the Seeing Spots set in More Mustard and punched with the 1 1/4" circle punch. On top of that is the flower, also from the Seeing Spots set, in Taken with Teal and cut out. It is mounted with a dimensional. As you can see on the scallop punched piece I used the paper piercing tool and pierced around it.

For the word 'RECIPE' I used the Best Friends Upper Alphabet stamp set. I like this alphabet set because it is not too large and not too small. It is 1" in height and the font is fun. I stamped this in Basic Black on Whisper White card stock and layered on to a piece of Real Red card stock.

I love the striped ribbon, so I had to use it on this. I wrapped it all the way around the box and tied it in to a knot in the front. I then punched a hole in the scallop piece and ran a piece of Turquoise 1/4" grosgrain ribbon through it and tied it to the red striped ribbon. The scallop piece is adhered to the box with dimensionals.

I thought maybe I might figure out a cover for it all, but just haven't gotten around to it yet. I just don't want to take away from the box itself. Who knows, maybe I'll try it and see how it looks.

I think this would be a great bridal shower gift. Fill in some of the cards with your favorites recipes and have some blank ones for the bride to fill in later.

Let me know what you think of this. Thanks for stopping today! Have a great rest of the weekend!
